"John Burford's acreage lay in what became north Birmingham. Between them, John and Emily Burford had 23 chn. After Reconstruction, with the house in disrepair, the property was sold by a Burford descendant, including the family cemetery. Phillip H. Harris [grandson-in-law] tried to save the cemetery; failing in this he had the bodies moved (inc. that of Emily H. Johnson) to the Harris lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama."
