Albin was born April 26, 1922, in Trump Coulee, Springfield Township, Jackson County, to parents Arndt and Amelia (Granlund) Johnson.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in Company D, 143rd Infantry 36th Infantry Division. He married Edna M. Flaaten April 28, 1948, at the First Lutheran Church in Blair. Edna preceded him in death March 12, 2004.
He was employed as a punch press operator at the Briggs & Stratton Corporation in Milwaukee from 1951 until retiring in 1983.
Albin was a loving husband and was very devoted to his family. He supported and cared for his parents for many years. He inherited a musical talent from his mother and enjoyed playing the guitar and going dancing. He also liked to travel and enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hixton, and the Hixton-Taylor American Legion Post #368.
Survivors include his sister; five sisters-in-law; besides other relatives and friends.
Besides his wife, Edna, he was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother and sister who died in early childhood, Norma and Norman; by two brothers, Eddie and Norman Johnson; by two sisters, Luella Johnson and Alida Thompson; and by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Albin L. Johnson will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hixton. Burial with military rites will take place in the Brookside Cemetery, rural Taylor.
Friends called at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and may also call at the church one hour prior to services.
