Ellen L. Darnell, 90, of Middle Creek Road, Afton, died Friday afternoon at Durham-Hensley Nursing Home.
Mrs. Darnell was a housewife and a farmer.
Survivors include her husband: Lee Darnell (who died Sunday evening); two sons and three daughters-in-law: Arthur and Nancy Darnell of Greeneville, Clifford and Thelma Darnell of Afton, and Shirley Darnell of Greeneville; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Etta and J.C. Parton, Eliza and Barney Hensley , and Frances Z. Johnson, all of Greeneville; 18 grandchildren including a special granddaughter: Zonya Cureton; eight stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister: Lunell Collins of Greeneville; a brother-in-law: Ross Collins; a sister-in-law: Luster Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a daughter of the late Ike and Etta Johnson and was preceded in death by two sons: Curtis Lee Darnell and Isaac J. Darnell; and four brothers: Carl Johnson, Lee Johnson, Lewis Johnson, and Clyde Johnson.
The families of Mrs. Darnell and her husband will receive friends from 7-9 this evening and Tuesday evening at Kiser Funeral Home.
There will be a double funeral service held at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dolphus Cutshaw and the Rev. Tommy Collins will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Mickey Hensley, Dean Hensley, Rickey Darnell, Marty Darnell, Randy Darnell, Terry Johnson, Lane Darnell, and Jim Cureton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Durham-Hensley, Dr. Marlin Mathiesen, Dr. Richard Aasheim, and Dr. Phillip Thwing
