Sandra Lee Johnson Gellinger
Sandra Lee Johnson was born on December 2, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was adopted by Ben and Eva Johnson. Four years later, Eva, Sandra and her brother Richard moved to Loomis, California where Eva married Ignacio Flores who raised Sandra as his own daughter. Both Eva and Ignacio preceded Sandy to Heaven.
A.J. Leland Gellinger met Sandy when she was ten years old when his family would pick up Sandy weekly for Sunday School. Lee and Sandy attended school together in Napa, California eventually graduating from High School in 1958. Lee and Sandy were married shortly after on August 7, 1960. They had just celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary.
Lee and Sandy lived in San Francisco for the first two years of their marriage where they gave birth to their first daughter, Ruth in 1962. Later that year they moved to Canby, Oregon and in 1964 added a second daughter, Cathy, to their family. They joined the Canby Alliance Church and continue to attend there up to this time. Sandy taught Sunday School for nearly 40 years, giving it up only after she had seen the last grandchild graduate through her class. She continued as a faithful prayer partner until her own graduation into Heaven.
Although Sandy attended Beauty School and enjoyed cutting hair and giving perms, she is probably best remembered in the community for her time working at Parsons Canby Pharmacy. Sandy also spent time RVing, decorating, antiquing, sewing and bird watching. Later in life Sandy spent some enjoyable hours at writer's conferences and working on her writing skills.
Late in her life, Sandy was able to make contact with her biological family and attend a family reunion establishing very meaningful relationships.
Sandy is survived by her greatest passion of all, her family. She deeply loved her husband Lee and her children Ruth and Cathy. Cathy (Bob) Knopp gave her three grandchildren, Emma (who preceded her to Heaven), Ellie and David; and Ruth (Frank) Howard who gave her two more grandchildren, Ian and Riley.
She is also survived by her brother Richard (June) Johnson and their son Matthew; her nieces Theresa Johnson and Carmen (Kent) Morneault and their children Amanda and Sandy; as well as her nephew Richard Johnson. She is also survived by Mark (Cindy) Gellinger and their children Robin and Corey; David Gellinger who preceded her to Heaven; and Corey (Kyong) Gellinger and their children John and Rachel.
Sandy was a gift from God to all and will be truly missed.
