Mrs. Cassie Johnson Bumgarner, age 88, of North Wilkesboro, widow of Thomas Ray Bumgarner died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Avante of Wilkesboro.
Funeral services will be held 2:00, Wednesday, July 6, at Hilltop Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Gregory and the Rev. Robert Wiles officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in Old Reddies River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday night.
Mrs. Bumgarner was born in Wilkes County, August 7, 1922, to Leander and Ellen Coffey Johnson. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bumgarner was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Bumgarner and four sisters and five brothers.
Mrs. Bumgarner is survived by one daughter, Mickey Shumate and husband, Robert of North Wilkesboro; one son, Larry Bumgarner and wife, Sally of North Wilkesboro; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
