Alma Margrette Holm, 93, of Halstad, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad.
• • She was born on April 22, 1919, to George and Olga (Engen) Johnson in rural Halstad. Alma attended Halstad Public School until she was needed to support her family. On November 25, 1939, Alma was united in marriage to Harold Holm at the parsonage in Shelly, MN. Their only child Karen was born in 1945. In 1954, they moved to Moorhead, MN, where she lived until 2005. After Harold died in 2004, Alma returned to Halstad and lived at the Heritage House. In June of 2012, she moved to the Halstad Living Center. Alma was a member of Halstad Lutheran Church, Moorhead VFW, Sons of Norway, the Heritage House, and the Senior Friends of Halstad.
Alma enjoyed being around people, especially when she was able to play whist. She was up to play cards at any and every opportunity. Alma always had the coffee pot on and plenty of cookies to eat. Alma loved her family more than anything and will be missed.
Alma is survived by her daughter: Karen (Gary) Justus, Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren: Andrea (Matthew) Arens and Matthew (Carolyn) Justus; four great-grandchildren: Jessica and Justin Arens; Lauren and Derek Justus; one sister: Lois (Bob) Ackerman, Brooklyn Park, MN; one brother-in-law, and five sisters-in-law; several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, six brothers: Art, Ralph, Kenneth, George, Jr., Leland, and Roland; three sisters: Gladys Ingberg, Ruth Steffes, and Janice Annis.
