The daughter of James and Susannah (Payne) Johnson, Judith married carpenter Daniel DeJarnette. She had eight children with Daniel: Martha, Lydia, James, Mary, John, Abijah, Mildred, and Susannah. She remained with her family in her home county of Lunenburg, Virginia through the Revolution, and moved to Brunswick County, Virginia some time after. She then made the journey through the Cumberland Gap in 1797, settling with her family in Kentucky. She survived her husband, who died in 1811, and inherited his land and slaves. She followed in 1838, and was buried at the family plantation.
