He was born June 27, 1948, in Modesto, Calif., to J.D. Johnson and Margaret Joan Bailey.
He attended Oakdale High School in California.
He served with the U.S. Army, Third US Army HHC, 2nd Brigade, 6th Infantry Division. He did two tours in Vietnam and received two Purple Hearts.
He was an aircraft mechanic.
He loved his dogs; they were his constant companions.
He loved his family and friends. He had a big heart. He loved to cook and enjoyed riding his Harley. He never met a stranger and he will be greatly missed. A special thanks to his best friend, Doug Meyer, for all that he did for him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Joan Bailey.
Survivors include his father, J.D. Johnson and his wife, Ina; son and daughter-in-law, Edward A. Johnson II and Marlynn; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Johnson and Danny Hilton; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Jacquita Johnson ; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jerrie and Ernie Taylor, Donna and Don Mills, and Tonya Johnson ; six grandchildren, Toree, Darion, Dalton, Shai, Dayton and Trinity; and one great-grandchild, Zoey Ruth.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 2, at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Johnny Stevens officiating.
Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Walker Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
