Daniel Nathan "Nat" Johnson, 73, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at home surrounded by his family amid many "I love you's" and kisses.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Glenview Baptist Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Carruthers Jr., Bill Tutt, Barney McCasland, Kyle Coulson, Larry Hogan and Cody Elliott.
Nat was born March 20, 1934, in Robertson County to Johnnie Vance and Minnie Wylie Johnson. When he was 7, the family moved to Fort Worth, where he resided until his death. He served his military duty during the Korean War.
Nat graduated from IBEW Electrical School and founded Nat Johnson Electrical Contractors, Inc. in March 1968 in the Riverside area. He remained owner and president until his death. He was a prolific contractor and performed work in most of the largest buildings in and around Fort Worth. His great pleasure was ranching in Greenwood, raising European cattle.
Nat was a member of Independent Electrical Contractors, Fort Worth/Tarrant County Chapter. He was a longtime member of National Electrical Contractors Association, Red River Chapter, where he served as president seven terms. He was a 39-year member of Riverside Lions Club and served three terms as president. Nat was a life member of 45 years in Masonic Lodge #1331, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, York Rite and Order of Jesters. He was a life member of Moslah Shrine Temple, which he received under Potentate Charles E. Carruthers Jr. He served as president of Moslah Directors Unit and enjoyed honorary membership in various other Moslah units. He received great pleasure in working with Moslah Circus every year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon Johnson and Vance Johnson; and his beloved mother-in-law, Margie Homer.
Survivors: Wife, Deloris; sons, Daniel Jr. and wife, Jerri, Jonathan and Stephen Spencer; daughters, Susan Johnson and Nathena Squyres; grandsons, Daniel "Trey" Johnson and wife, Viki, Nicholas Johnson and Travis Squyres; granddaughters, Renae Spurgin and Keith, Kelsey Johnson and Kaitlin Johnson; great-grandchildren, Caleigh Spurgin and special love, Baby Samuel Nathan Johnson; sisters, Erlenne Brownlee, Alyne Lancer and Lavonne Johnston; and brother, J.F. Johnson.
