BEAVER CITY -- Bessie Pauline John, 99, died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 2006) at Beaver City Manor.

She was born March 1, 1907, at Beaver City to Edd and Jessie (Vroom) Breuning. She grew up in Furnas County and attended Mount Rastus School graduating from the eighth grade.

She married Ed John on June 9, 1926, at Norton, Kan. They farmed two miles west of Hendley and then to a farm near Beaver City and later moved back to Hendley.

She lived in Furnas County most of her life and worked with her husband, on the farm. He died in 1964. She moved to Beaver City Plaza in 1979 and then to Beaver City Manor in 1997.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and a 75 year member of the Goldon Rod Extension Club of Hendley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; infant son, Clifford; son, Jerry; sister, Thelma Dillon; and brother, Max Breuning.

Survivors include her son, Gordon and wife, Geneva of Beaver City; daughter-in-law, Frankie John of Kearney; one grandson; and two great-grandsons.

Graveside services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at Hendley Cemetery, with the Rev. Keith Theobald officiating.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Beaver City Manor.
