Joseph J. Jezak, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born on February 12, 1926 in St. Joseph to Andrew and Agnes (Hruby) Jezak. He graduated from Central High School in 1944.
Joseph was employed at Beaty Grocery Company and its successor, Affiliated Foods, serving in various capacities including Bakery Manager, Treasurer and Benefits Manager. He retired in 1991 after 40 years of service.
Mr. Jezak served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII and later as part of the Occupation Forces stationed in Japan. He proudly served in the Air National Guard, 180th Bombardment Squadron at Rosecrans Field achieving rank of Master Sergeant. He was later deployed to Bordeaux, France with the 180th during the Korean Conflict.
Joseph was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, having served in various pastoral ministries. He was an Honorary Life Member of Knights of Columbus Council 571, having held the position of Grand Knight and organized the Pallbearers' Club. His membership in the 4th Degree St. Joseph General Assembly # 569 included serving as Faithful Navigator and Honor Guard participant.
Joseph married Rose Marie Kalinowski on June 23, 1951 at SS Peter and Paul Church. She survives of the home.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Vincent Jezak.

(Anne) Jezak, Roeland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Stephanie (Fred) Hildreth, Ben (Corbie) Kobett, Leah (Josh) Swindler, Sam Jezak, Andrew Jezak, great-grandchildren, Jordan Hamilton, Zachary Hildreth, Jersie Kobett and Luke Kobett; sisters Mary Ann Jezak, of St. Joseph; Frances Kessler, of Savannah; Rose Kehs, of Platte City; brother, Bernard Jezak, of Kansas City, and several nieces and nephews.
