|Birth: ||Mar. 2, 1915|
|Death: ||Jun. 16, 2011|
Our beloved mother, Dessie Lola Billard, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 16, 2011. Our hearts are broken, we miss her so, but we know that she is on her greatest journey home and she is free from the burdens of this world.
She was born on March 2, 1915, to Booth and Clara Jester in Marlow, OK. She was the ninth of twelve children. Booth was a sharecropper during her childhood and she and her siblings spent long hours in the cotton fields helping their father. Dessie learned to work hard, play hard and be thankful for her many blessings.
Will Ed Bryson, Sr, and Dessie were married in Mountain View, OK, on February 27, 1931. Billie LaNell was born May 5, 1935, in Clovis, NM, followed by Patricia Joyce on January 2, 1939, born in El Reno, OK. Patricia was born at home and helped into this world by her father. Will Ed Bryson, Jr., was born on March 23, 1947, after the family had moved to Merced, CA, as a result of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. They completed their family on April 5, 1950, with the birth of Rebecca Ann. Bill and Dessie raised their family in Merced. They were married for 32 years.
On May 20, 1966, Dessie married Jack S. Billard. They moved to Redwood City, CA, and later settled in Klamath Falls, OR. Jack died in 1991. With the assistance of her son and his family, including her great granddaughter, Shelby, Dessie continued to live independently. In 2008, after an extended illness, Dessie moved into Cross Roads where she was happy and well cared for until her death.
Dessie had a prolific love of her family, church, friends and laughter. She was a homemaker most of her adult life and dedicated herself to living by the "Golden Rule." She set an example for her family of generosity, kindness and tolerance. Her beautiful smile lit up the room and the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Dessie will be remembered and missed by her family, who included her four children, LaNell Meuser and her husband Earl, Merced, CA, Patty Watson and her husband Fred, Bay City, OR, Ed Bryson and his wife Lynda, Klamath Falls, OR, and Becky Rauch and her husband John, Green River, WY. She leaves behind a legacy of eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two of her brothers and a host of other family members and friends.
