Jun. 22, 2011 Saint George Washington County Utah, USA
ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and most of all, our friend, has passed away due to complications associated with age on Wednesday, June 22, 2011; she was 86.
Her journey through life began in 1924 in Cache County where she grew up living the good life in rural Utah. During WWII she served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Mason in San Francisco. After the war she married Russell Young and together they raised three children in Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah. Russell passed away in 1958 and Shirley married James Aday three years later. Shirley and James raised two additional children.
Shirley was a wonderful mother and homemaker, and even found time to become an accomplished artist. Her favorites are oil paints and watercolors. She taught art classes for several years and ran her own picture-framing business. Her art has been on display in some of the most prominent businesses and galleries in Southern Utah and Nevada. Shirley participated for several years in the Huntsman World Senior Games. Her favorite sports were bowling, horseshoes, and table tennis. Shirley was a proud and principled woman; she will be missed dearly.
Shirley is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family will have a private ceremony to celebrate her life
