MACON - Claude E. Jesse, 86, of Macon died 11:41 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Macon United Methodist Church with visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 at Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. Masonic Rites will be at 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Macon United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Jesse was born June 20, 1917 in Caddo County, Oklahoma the son of Harvey Oliver and Lavada Beatrice Haldeman Jesse. He retired in 1982 from Firestone Tire Company as a maintenance foreman and electrician. He and his father owned Jesse & Son Appliance Store in Macon in the 1950's. He was a member of Macon United Methodist Church, fifty year member of South Macon Masonic Lodge #467, and joined OES Vivian Chapter #344 on June 14, 1952 where he was a three time past patron. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and loved woodworking. He married Henrietta May Dennis on January 31, 1942. She preceded him in death on January 18, 1992.
Surviving are his children; Darlene Bohlen of Macon, Judith Park and husband Roger of Decatur, Richard Jesse of Monticello, and Susan Moore and husband Charles, Jr. of Morrison, Tennessee, sisters; Doris Miller of Lexington, Kentucky, Jean Jordan of Moweaqua, and Margaret Maurer of Decatur, special friend Ardis Gregory of Decatur, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers Bert Jesse and Earl Jesse, and sister Frieda Newberry.
