HANS C. JENSEN IS BURIED SATURDAY
Hans C. Jensen, former Orum blacksmith who died last Thursday at Bancroft, was buried in Orum Cemetery Saturday afternoon, services at the grave being in charge of the I.O.O.F. lodge. Mr. Jensen had been a member for 45 years.

At about 1:30 o'clock on the afternoon of the 4th, fire broke out in Hans C. Jensen's blacksmith shop out at Orum and both it and the residence burned to the ground. Mr. Jensen and his family were in this city celebrating and no one knows how the fire was started. Simon Larsen's and J.C. Christiansen's were at home and did what they could to save the house, but owing to the high wind their efforts were unveiling. They did get most of the furniture out of the lower story, but all his blacksmith tools, books and accounts all burned. It looked for a time as thought the store, in which the Orum branch of the Blair central is located, would burn, but it was saved, fortunately. Mr. Jensen had about $800 in insurance, whereas his loss is estimated at bout $2000, not to mention what he had on his books. He would appreciated it very much if those knowing themselves to be indebted to him would call at the town house, where he is now located, and pay it. The $800 won't even build him a suitable home for himself and daughter, let alone build a shop and equip it with sufficient tools to enable him to earn his living again. The neighbors around there have started a subscription paper to help him rebuild and the business men of this city will also help. He is a good workman and good citizen and is deserving of whatever those who feel able to help him may contribute. Those wishing to help may see or send checks either to J.C. Christiansen at Orum or to F.W. Arndt, president of the Blair Merchant's Associatition at Blair.

Hans Christian Jensen, my Greatgrandfather. Thank you for all you did as the family head; providing the means and place for the rest of the family to come to America. You and Grandma Dorothea are true heros to me. You will always be remembered.
