Carrie Lee Jennings Allen, 85, of the 2700 block of Marlboro Ave., departed this life Aug. 10, 2002 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Natalie, Va., Oct. 27, 1916 to Robert F. Jennings Sr. and Emma Tucker Jennings, she was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. She retired in January 1979 from F.W. Woolworth Co., where she was employed for 42 years. She was a dedicated 60-year member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, where the Rev. Edward Randolph Jr. is currently the pastor.

She was predeceased by her husband, Willis H. Allen and her son, Haywood L. Jennings. She is survived by two granddaughters, Camellia L. Jennings of Norfolk and Patricia A. Jennings of Hawaii; a sister, Gurtherine Jennings Scales of Norfolk; a brother, Robert F. Jennings Jr. and a sister-in-law, Persis J. Jennings of Norfolk; two devoted nieces, Valorie Jennings of Rockaway, N.J., and Celeste S. Peele of Dayton, Ohio; two devoted nephews, Thomas Z. Scales of Fort Washington, Md., and Robert F. Jennings III of Hampton; two great-nieces, Robyn Elaine Peele of Fayetteville, N.C., and Tomeka Burdelle Scales of Fort Washington; and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 1141 Campostella Road, Norfolk, by the Rev. Donald Pollard. Viewing will be at the church from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Flowers may be sent to the church or to Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to assemble at the residence after interment.
