Nancy, daughter of Thomas and Priscilla Jennings, early pioneers of this county, was born in 1819, died December 15, 1912, aged 93 years. At about the age of 16, she was married to William Imes. To them one child Richard was born who died several years ago. The husband died in the West. On March 18, 1860, she was married to Thomas Alexander, who died September 6, 1905. She went to Palestine Illinois, to live with relatives who gave her an education so she could support her family.
She was always, even in old age, a great reader and a lover of beauty in nature and art. Her only surviving relative is one brother Arthur Jennings and his family of this county and three great grandchildren of Vandalia, Illinois. She also leaves two-step children, Mrs. Lizzie Milam and Perry Alexander of West Union.
The funeral sermon was preached in the Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. Wheeler. Interment in the Shawler Cemetery.
