Harry served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot on P-51B #42-106429, 335th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Oneida County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 27, 1941, prior to the war, in Utica, New York. He was noted as being employed as a Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married after his enlistment.

Harry took off from Station F-356, England on a bomber escort mission over Hamburg, Germany.

Harry was shot down in combat with a German Bf-109 and crashed near Hamburg. He was declared "Missing In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Jennings Declared Officially Dead

Second Lt. Harry E. Jennings husband of Specialist Betty R. Jennings, USNR, WAVES, 1125 1/2 Park, now stationed in Atlantic City, who was reported missing in action over Germany, has been officially declared dead by the War Department.

Lieutenant Jennings, son of Harry A. Jennings, Buffalo, lived here until four years ago when he left Utica Free Academy to enlist in the Army. His wife, the former Miss Betty Ropecke, enlisted in the WAVES two weeks after her husband left for overseas duty in Febuary, 1943.

Lieutenant Jennings was trained in Tallahassee and Tampa, Fla. According to his letters, he hadflown several missions over Germany before he was reported missing.
Besides his father and wife, his only survivor is a brother, First Lt. Emrys Jennings, an Air Corps instructor overseas.
