Col. Isaac Jenks, Veteran Soldier, Dies in Pittsburgh

Baltimore, Jan. 5 - Col. Isaac C. Jenks, infantry, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl P. Gilson, 5728 Munhall road, Pittsburgh, Pa., early yesterday. He was on leave of absence at the time of his death. He was due for retirement from active service on February 3 next, when he would have reached the statutory age of 64 years.
He had been in the army more than 43 years. he lived at 1701 Park avenue, Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Washington, D.C., at an hour to be announced later. Burial will be in the Arlington Memorial Cemetery. Colonel Jenks has been on duty at Headquarters, Third Corps Area of the Army, as Chief of Staff from August 15, 1925, to September 27, 1928, and as officer in charge of National Guard affairs from September 27, 1928, to December 4, 1930.

He was born in Franklin, Mass., on February 3, 1867. He entered the Military Academy as a cadet in 1887 and graduated in 1891. He graduated from the Field Officers' course, the Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.; from the School of the Line, and from the General Staff School at Fort Leavenworth, Kas., and from the Army War College, Washington, D.C.

Colonel Jenks saw active service on Indian Scouting duty from 1892 o 1896. In 1898 he saw active service in the Pulajane Campaign on the Island of Leyte, one of the Philippine Islands.

During the Wold War he saw service with the Ninety-second and with the Third Divisions and was in France from June, 1918, to August, 1919. His widow is the daughter of the late Colonel Girard, Army Medical Corps.
