ST. ELMO — Iris Elaine Belden, 81, of St. Elmo passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 11:40 a.m. at home, with her family near.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo, with the Rev. John Eisfelder officiating. Committal services will immediately follow the funeral services in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo. For those who prefer memorials, they may be given to First United Methodist Church, 215 N. Walnut St., St. Elmo, IL 62458 or the donor's choice.

Iris Elaine Jenkins-Belden was born July 29, 1929, in St. Elmo, into a family of five siblings, the daughter of John and Lizzie Dively-Jenkins. She married Billy Lee Belden on June 3, 1950, in London Mills, with the Rev. Granville Arthur Belden officiating.

Iris was member of First United Methodist Church, and grew up, was educated and lived in St. Elmo her entire life. She was very responsive to volunteer efforts of many charitable events, thus claiming the bragging rites of being named "Cookie Lady." Iris, besides raising a family with her husband, was employed at Richardson Bros. Greenhouses, and was employed by St. Elmo School District in the elementary cafeteria.

In her passing she leaves behind her husband, Billy Lee Belden of St. Elmo; two sons, Dr. Jeffery Lewis (wife, Sandra) Belden of Columbia, Mo., and their children, Stuart Michael (wife, Angela) Belden, Scott Andrew Belden and Mark Adam Belden and Bradley Keith (wife, Susan) Belden of Lula, Ga.; one daughter, Lori Ann (husband, Scott) Hainz of Wildwood, Mo., and their children, Abbie Leigh (husband, Rick) Steiling, Andrew Scott Hainz, Kelly Delaney Hainz and Violet Skylynne Hainz; two sisters, Barbara (husband, John) Crawford of St. Elmo and Pauline Dotson of Denver; several nieces, nephews and several friends in the local area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John David Jenkins and Lizzie Dively-Jenkins; brothers, Donald and his wife, Jane Jenkins, and Bus and his wife, Doris Dively; sister, Mary and her husband, Phillip Bail; and brother-in-law, Frank Dotson.
