Ruthinda LaRue Jenkins Briggs, 86, of Nampa, died on Monday, June 19, 1995, at a Boise care center after an extended illness. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 1995, at the Nampa 13th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 504 11th Ave. N. Bishop Marlin Patterson will officiate. Private family burial will follow at the Hillcrest memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of the Alsip funeral Chapel, Nampa.
LaRue was born on March 6, 1909, in Plain City, Utah, a daughter of Lewis R. and Laura C. Moench Jenkins. She attended Plain City elementary School and Weber High School in Ogden, UT, and 2 years at Weber State College. LaRue married Therin Briggs on Sept. 11, 1929, at the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple. Following their marriage they made their home in Syracuse, Utah, where her husband farmed and drove milk truck until 1944 when the family moved to a farm just north of Nampa. When her husband became disabled in 1964 due to an accident they moved to Heppner, OR, and then to Reedsport, OR, where LaRue taught elementary school. She continued to attend college in the summer until she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education at NNC. In 1974 she retired from teaching and she and her husband returned to Nampa.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1986. She was a member of the Nampa 13th Ward L.D.S. Church. She is survived by 3 daughters, Lois Jones, Garden Valley, Kaye Stewart, Boise, and Patricia Kerbs, Clovis, CA; a sister, Donna Mae Clapier, Marsing; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Geraldine Robb, her parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and a great-grandson.
