She grew up and raised her family during the depression but they never lacked for love and the things that mattered. She worked in the fields and at home, raising a family during the hardest of times. Though she only worked at a public job for a few years she was a hard working lady. She had a vegetable garden and beautiful flowers into her 90's. She was a quiet and unpretentious woman who loved God and her family and friends. She was independent and wanted to take care of herself even when she was in her declining years. She was a great cook and well known for her cornbread dressing, pineapple cake and fresh coconut cake. All who came to her home could always find peanut butter cookies in her cookie jar. That was always a favorite of the grandchildren and great grandchildren. There is no long list of organizations or great accomplishments in the business world but she had more love of family and friends than could be listed. She was a faithful member of Lenora Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of Rosebud Women's Club and Widows Club. Mrs. Bentley was a great seamstress and made many beautiful quilts, the last one- a beautiful cathedral window, having been handmade when she was 94 years old. We have all been blessed to have known and loved and been loved by this wonderful Christian lady, wife , mother, and friend. The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 2246 Wisteria Drive, Snellville, Ga. 30078. 770-979-5010.
