Miss Bonnie Jenkins

Statesboro, Ga. - Miss Bonnie Jenkins, age 83, died Monday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the last Sam and Effie Sellers Jenkins. She was a graduate of Marvin Pittman Laboratory School. Miss Jenkins served as the Chatham County clerk of court for many years before retiring back to Statesboro. She was employed by J.E. "Jake" Smith with Smith-Tillman Mortuary as an administrative assistant and funeral assistant. She was also employed as a clerk for United Family Life Insurance. Miss Jenkins was a member of the Clito Baptist Church, where she had served as the treasurer. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Sapp, Charlotte Zetterower and Dorothy Lewis; and a brother, Eugene Jenkins.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Juanita Jenkins of Statesboro; and a sister, Shirley McClellan of Thomaston. A nephew and five nieces also survive. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Conley officiating. Interment will be in the Eastside Cemetery. Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.
