Charles Vernon Jenkins, 49, died in a local hospital on Sunday following complications of a virus infection. He had been confined to hospitals here and in Salt Lake City for the past three months. For the past 16 years, Jenkins had been employed by a local creamery as a maintenance mechanic.
He was born Aug. 13, 1903, at Magna, Utah, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur V. Jenkins (Grace Moss). He attended schools in Magna, and from 1925 to 1927 he served a mission in the western states for the LDS Church. On July 21, 1928, he was married to Clara Ada Ferguson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Jenkins owned and operated a photo shop in Magna until he came to Idaho Falls in 1932. He was active in the LDS Church, and held the office of a counsel for the 70s at the time of his death.
He is survived by his widow, and the following sons and daughters: Duane Jenkins, Twin Falls; Mrs. Bert (Carla) Woodland, Purcell, Okla.; Mrs. Tebbin (Mary Lou) Johnson, Verlene, Morris, LuAnn, and David Jenkins, all of Idaho Falls.
Survivors also include his parents, three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Edwin and Everett Jenkins; both of Magna; Rulon Jenkins, Kenneth Jenkins, Mrs. Jack Harvey, Mrs. Perry Griffiths, and Mrs. LuMar Christensen, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Charles Anderson, Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Mrs. Ada Hines, Ogden, Utah.
