"John Jefferson Jenkins, son of George and Harriet Forfee Jenkins, was born June 8, 1860, at Galveston, Texas. The family came to Andrew county when John was a small boy. He married Elizabeth Bryant on August 26, 1886, at Savannah. To them was born a son, Orville Bryant Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins was stricken Friday afternoon while visiting at the shop of his brother-in-law, J. O. Bryant. He was removed to his home, 304 South Sixth street. He lapsed into unconsciousness and passed away at 8:00 o'clock Monday evening, October 16, 1939, at the ripe age of 79 years, four months and eight days.

Surviving are the widow; his son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren; two brothers, George and Clay Jenkins; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Freeman of Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the residence and was conducted by Rev. Frank J. Mapel. Interment was in the Savannah cemetery." Savannah Reporter and Andrew County Democrat (Savannah, Missouri), October 20, 1939
