Mary May Jemison was born May 9, 1904, in Olney, Indian Territory (Chickasaw Nation), now Oklahoma (Coal County), daughter of William Pouncey Jemison (1868-1941) and Eula Eunice James (1873-1923). In 1920, May, age 16, born in Oklahoma, was living in Bryan, Oklahoma (Coal County) with her father, William P., a farmer, age 37, born in Texas; and her mother Eula E., age 46, born in Oklahoma; and her five siblings: Jennie, age 21; Vera, age 18; Osceola, age 12; Eula R., age 9; and Joseph M., age 6; all born in Oklahoma.
In about 1926, May married Robert Thurman 'Pat' Breedlove, who was born June 5, 1901 in Oklahoma City, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma (Oklahoma County), son of Robert Tate Breedlove (1865-1919) and Sarah Louise 'Sally' Beach (1866-1951). Pat and May had one son, Robert Thurman Breedlove Jr., born April 4, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Oklahoma County).
In 1930, Mary May, age 25, born in Oklahoma, was living in Ada, Oklahoma (Pontotoc County) with her husband, Pat Breedlove, a garage machinist, age 29, born in Oklahoma. The census shows that May and Pat were ages 21 and 25, respectively when they married. Living with them was their son, R.T., age 3, born in Oklahoma.
Pat died July 15, 1952 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there in the Highland Cemetery. May died August 18, 1976 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried beside her husband.
