*Monday afternoon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Gard, corner of Third Street and Seventeenth Avenue, occurred the marriage of their accomplished daughter, Miss Alice, to Albert J. Jeffries, a prosperous young farmer residing near Troy Mills.
The marriage service, was simple and only before the relatives and most intimate friends of the young couple, the ceremony being performed by Rev. G. W. Mullen, pastor of Zion Evangelical Church. A bountiful wedding dinner followed the nuptials and congratulations. The bride is a lovely young woman and Mr. Jeffries is to be congratulated on his choice. Mr. and Mrs. Jeffries will occupy their fine farm near Troy Mills.--C.R. Republican.
~0bit~ Mrs. A. J. Jeffries, who died Tuesday, April 10, at the home of her son, was Aldazara Drusilla Gard, eldest child of Henry W. and Rhoda Gard, born at Cedar Rapids, March 19, 1864. In 1867 she moved with her parents to Plymouth county and from there to Marengo in 1879. The family moved to a farm near Troy Mills in 1881. She was married to Albert Jeffries on March 13, 1894, at Cedar Rapids, and began housekeeping on the farm near Troy Mills on the farm near Troy Mills where they spent twenty-seven years. To this union one son, Elza, was born. In 1921, she and her husband moved to Troy Mills where she lived where she lived until about three weeks before her death. Early in life she joined the Zion Evangelical Church at Cedar Rapids and transferred her membership to the Christian Church of Troy Mills. The funeral was held Thursday, April at 2 p.m., at the Methodist church of Troy Mills, Rev. L. H. Wheeler, officiating. Interment was in the Troy Mills cemetery. She is survived by her husband and one son and three grandchildren. Also a sister, Mrs. Mattie Hughson, of Cedar Rapids and a brother, Gordon Gard, of Sioux City, Iowa. Those from a distance to attend the funeral were :. E. G. Felger, all of Cear Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cornwell, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Schatzle, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Andrews and Amy Minkler, all of Central City; Mr. and Mrs. Nate Smith and Mrs. Joe Kint, of Independence; Mrs. and Mrs. Earl Biggs and Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Biggs of Marion; and Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Crink of Malvern, Iowa.
