Ann Jeffords Trotter died peacefully at the age of 91 on March 22, 2008, in Austin, Texas. Ann was born on October 1, 1916 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the second of four children.
She graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Kansas where she was also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1938, Ann married her college sweetheart, Claude H. Trotter, with whom she had three sons. After starting life together in Kansas City, Ann and Claude spent the majority of their married life in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where, in addition to being a devoted mother and wife, Ann actively participated in the Service League of Bartlesville, St. Luke's Episcopal Church Women's Guild and her sorority's alumnae group.
Ann was truly an artist at heart. As her children grew up, she was able to devote time to drawing and sculpting and playing the piano by ear. With Ann, homemaking became an art as well. She was gifted in the craft of needlework, creating many beautiful linens and needlepoint projects. Her lovely home also reflected her artistic and talented eye for interior design. Ann's extraordinary flair for cooking was widely acclaimed, coming in very handy with three growing boys. She and Claude moved to Austin in 1990. Since 2001, they have resided at Westminster Manor.
She is survived by: her husband, Claude H. Trotter; her brother, John C. Jeffords, Jr, of Nashville, TN; her sister Mary Jeffords Rook of Boulder, CO; her son, Claude H. Trotter, Jr. and his wife, Sally Brown Trotter of Fontana, WI; her son, J. David Trotter and his wife, Marcia Bunn Trotter of Austin, TX; her son, Donald W. Trotter and his wife, Vickie Taylor Trotter of Kansas City, MO.; as well as 6 grandchildren, Kristen Trotter Oakley, Claude H. Trotter III, Michael D. Trotter, Brooke Trotter Robertson, Nathan Taylor Trotter and Ann Trotter Santacroce; and 9 great-grandchildren, Josh Oakley, Samantha Oakley, Megan Oakley, Ryan Trotter, Mia Trotter, Bradyn Robertson, Hunter Robertson, Elaine Trotter and Wesley Trotter.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Manor in the Chapel on March 27, 2008 at 2 p.m.
