Glenna M. Jansen

Glenna May Jansen died Dec. 7, 2004, at Providence Newberg Hospital. She was 73.

She was born July 9, 1931, to Cecyl and Julia (Tinsley) Muhr Reddington, Neb. She grew up and received her early education in Harrisburg, Neb., and graduated from high school. She attended University of California-Los Angeles, where she earned a teaching degree. On June 7, 1958, she married William Jansen in Culver City, Calif. They moved to Newberg in 1972. She worked for Allen Fruit for a few years. In 1975 she worked at George Fox College (now George Fox University) and was the president's secretary until she retired in 1996. She was called back to help on a part time basis on several occasions.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1997.

She was an active member of West Chehalem Friends Church. She sang in the church choir and with the Sweet Adelines. Her interests included crafts; painting, especially tole painting; gardening; farming; and her animals. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: sons, Ron and Rayle Jansen, both of Newberg; daughter Raelyne Jansen of Portland; brothers, Doyle Muhr of Portland, Leon Muhr of Manning, Gary Muhr of Dayton, and Larry Muhr of Nebraska; sisters, Darleen Gibbs and Bonnie Libby, both of Newberg; grandchildren, Keven, Krista and Kyle Jansen, and Lindsey Darrow; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Keely, Tulip May Darrow and Alivia Jansen.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Marvin and Howard; and sister Lois.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Saturday) at West Chehalem Friends Church in Newberg with Pastor Paul Almquist officiating. Committal is private at Newberg Friends Cemetery.
