Company commander of the Culpeper Minute Men Batttalion which formed in 1775.

Lt. Col. Jameson fought in the battle of Great Bridge during the Revolutionary War. In March of 1777, he was a Major for the Continental Dragoons.

He was wounded at Valley Forge in 1778, and in 1780, his unit helped capture John Andre, a British spy who was sending messages for Benedict Arnold.
