While the family monument appears to have Louisa's death year as 1885, she died on Monday, 18 MAR 1895 in Utica, Oneida County, New York. A death notice was published in the Utica [NY] Sunday Journal on 24 MAR 1895:
"The death of Mrs. Louisa J. Hill occurred at the House of the Good Shepherd Monday morning at the age of 83 years. She was the daughter of Hon. William James of Albion, and lived for many years in Milwaukee. Seven years ago she came to the House of the Good Shepherd to live with her sister, Mrs. Fisbie, who was then matron. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary B. Coon of Hudson. The remains were taken to Milwaukee for interment."
