Myrtle C. James
Last rites for Miss Myrtle Claudia James, 58, were held at Alva Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8th, with Rev. F. M. McKibben conducting the services. Interment was in the Parker Cemetery.
Death came suddenly Sunday as the result of a heart attack in her quarters at Spring Hill Consolidated School, where the deceased was science teacher. Surviving are: Three sisters, Mrs. Marie Sceen of , Mrs. Knox Cooper of Long , Texas, and Mrs. J. J. of Sweatman; two brothers, J. James of Ackerman and W. A. D. James of Midnight, MS.
The deceased was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. D. James of Alva. She was a graduate of M.S.C.W., Columbus, the Scarritt Bible Training School, Nashville, Tenn., Southwestern University, Memphis, and for 20 years taught school. Miss James was a Methodist missionary in the past 17 years, but had to give up work because of her health.
