Funeral services for Martha Lois Nelson James, 93, were held Tuesday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Born in Chattanooga, TN she lived most of her life in the Mississippi Delta with her husband Walter Kevin James to whom she was married for 68 years. She was an artist known statewide for her portraits and other paintings. She taught many art classes over the years to children and adults and was active in the Methodist Church in Cruger.
She is survived by her seven children, Walter Keirn James, Jr. of Jackson, Lois J. Burns of Blue Ridge, GA, Maude J. McWhorter of Biloxi, Nellie J. McPherson of Columbus, Martha Nelson James of Greensboro, N.C., Alexander Leonard Nelson James of Caledonia and Nancy J. Pruett of Tupelo; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Southern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
