We pause now to honor the memory of our beloved Floyd James, Sr., formerly of 5302 Fleming Road, Flint, Michigan, who departed this life on December 28, 1984, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan. Born April 18, 1902, he was the son of the late Berry and Olive Randall James.
At an early age, Floyd expressed his hope in Christ and accepted him as his personal Savior. He was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lexington, Mississippi, and upon relocating to Flint, Michigan, he became affiliated with the New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
He was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth James on December 28, 1928. This union was blessed with two children.
He leaves to mourn his two sons: Floyd, Jr. (Lessie) James, and Nathaniel (Amanda) James both of Flint, Michigan; three brothers, Hiliary James, Columbus, OH, David James, Chicago, IL and Edward (Willie) James, Chicago, IL; three sisters, Seleda C. James and Sophronia James Moses both of Lexington, MS, and Rosie Mae Redditt of Lake Village, AK.; grandchildren, Joe (Ida D.) Pollock of Glassco, KY, Gloria Jean Benson, Ruford E., Melvin L., Shelia K., Nathaniel, Jr., Mary E. and Sarah L. James, all of Flint, MI; nine great-grandchildren, Lenish, Melvin, Jr., Jemario, and Denote James of Flint, MI, Karen, Sharon, Jackie, Contenia and Nate Pollock, ILL, all of Glassco, KY, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Active pallbearers were deacons of Asia, Mt. Olive and New Jerusalem Baptist Churches. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Flower bearers were ushers and member of the choir.
Professional Services were entrusted to House of Spencer Mortuary, 520 West Third Avenue, Flint, Michigan, and Porter and Sons Funeral, 237 Yazoo Street, Lexington, Mississippi.
