Patricia Ann Baker, 83, the daughter of Ralph and Esther James, died June 14, 2010. Patricia was a talented playwright, composer and pianist, a loving mother and sister. She was an active member of the Cherokee Christian Church. Easter was her favorite holiday which she celebrated with exuberance. Patricia was a journalism graduate of the University of Kansas and worked on newspapers before marrying Floyd Baker in 1957. Their two children are Todd Clayton, Parsons, KS, and Holly Lynn, Tucson, AZ.

She nurtured her talents by forming a playwriting group, Playwrights and Players, to give fledging writers and actors opportunities to write and stage plays. It was one of the great accomplishments of her varied career. Her most recent effort in music was to write a cantata.

Other survivors are her brother Roger F. James, and her loving sister-in-law Joan, nephews Andy (Laura) and Evan James (Joanie), and niece Karen McHugh (Kevin). She was Great Aunt to eight who will miss her humorous remembrances.

Her compassion for animals induced her to take into her home two kitties, Sylvester and Itsie Bitsie, whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cherokee Christian Church Music Program. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 17, at Cherokee Christian Church, 7457 Cherokee Drive, Prairie Village, KS.

Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO.
