Lt. George F. Jamar Sr., 74, AACPD (Ret.), died March 9 at his home in Arnold after a brief illness.
He served his country in the U.S. Army for four years and was honorably discharged in 1956. He retired from the Anne Arundel County Police Department in 1989 after more than 30 years of service. He graduated from the Department of Justice, FBI training academy at Quantico in 1976. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 175 in Severna Park and a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret Jamar; two sisters, Rose Marie Housley of Annapolis and Maureen Crosgrove of Mission, Texas; three brothers, Edward (Sonny) Weber Jamar, Jr., & William (Curt) Jamar, both of Annapolis, and Willis Weber of Vacaville, CA; three daughters, Linda Nichols, Sherry Gore of Grasonville, & Donna Stevens of Cordova; three sons, George Jamar, Jr. of Federalsburg, Paul Jamar of Stevensville, & Thomas Jamar of Crownsville; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
