Death Comes To Benton Street Grocer
Jesse LaVaile ("Jack") Jacquinot, 54 of 401 S. Benton St., died at the Ottumwa Hospital at 4:30 AM today following a short illness. Mr. Jacquinot had operated the grocery business at the location where he made his home, for the past 19 years. He was born May 9, 1892 at Hedrick, Iowa; the son of the late Augustus and Lovina Suber Jacquinot. He had been a resident Ottumwa for the past 42 years. Mr. Jacquinot was a member of the Pentecostal church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Grimes, Mrs. Sylvia Umphress, and Mrs. Margaret Walker, all of Ottumwa, and two sons, Jesse and Clarence both of Ottumwa. Surviving are two grandchildren, Sharon Agnes and James LaVaile Grimes. He was the last of his parents' family. Nine sisters and brothers preceded him in death. His wife died in 1926. Two children also preceded him in death. The body will be taken from the Johnson funeral Chapel to the home of the son, Jesse 904 West Sherman Street, late this afternoon. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Funeral service services for Jesse LaVaile (Jack) Jacquinot of 401 S. Benton St., who died at 4:30 AM Monday at the Ottumwa Hospital, will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday from The Benton Street Pentecostal church in charge of the Rev. Debbie W. B. Friend, assisted by the Rev. E. Fuller, burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will be taken from the home to the church at 11 AM.
