His mother was the daughter of Kristen and Ingborg (Kvale) Gareik.
His father was the son of Jacob Jonassen.
Alf was the half-brother of Bjarne Jacobsen and Agnes "Clara" Jacobsen, and the brother of Marie (Jacobsen) Nelson, Raymond Jacobsen and Rayder Jacobsen.

ALF M. JACOBSEN
Alf M. Jacobsen was born on Puget Island, Washington, September 3, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ P. Jacobsen. He died May 27, 1972 at his home in Goldendale.
He was a graduate of Wahkiakum High School, Washington State University and Gonzaga University. His education was interrupted by World War II in which he served with the 8th Air Force in the European theater. As a pilot he flew many missions over Germany from bases in England.
After his marriage to Muriel G. Robbins in 1949, he began the practice of law in Cathlamet, Wa., and served there as prosecuting attorney of Wahkiakum County for 5 1/2 years.
In 1961 he moved his family to Goldendale to accept appointment as prosecuting attorney of Klickitat County. He was later elected to that position and served until 1967 when he went into private practice. He served eight years as the city attorney of Goldendale.
As a active member of the St. Christopher's Episcopal Mission, he served as a senior warden and lay reader.
His affiliations include BPOE, Mt. Adams Lodge No. 1868; American Legion; Goldendale Lodge No. 31, F&AM (of which he was a past master); Royal Arch Mason, Knights Templar and Afifi Temple of the Shrine; Washington State Bar Association, and Navy League of the U.S. He was precint committeeman and chairman of the Democratic Party and Salvation Army fund drive chairman.
In 1969 he was elected "Boss of the Year" by Stonehenge Charter Chapter, American Business Women's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Murial; and five children: daughters Vicki Colgan of Kulmbach, Germany (where her husband Dick is a teacher), Connie L. Jacobsen, a student at CWSC; Julie, a student at Washington State University; and Kathy and a son, Jon at home. A brother, Bjarne Jacobsen of White Salmon and a sister, Marie Nelson of Vancouver also survive him.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, at the Goldendale Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Lawrence Ferguson and the Rev. Rustin Kimsey officated.
Honorary pallbearers were Sterling Ledbetter, Norm Evans, Dr. Ralph Case, Allen Brown, George Nesbitt and Robert Didricksen. Active bearers were Jim Bridgefarmer, Eugene Hanson, Joe Modlin, Ross Rakow, Bob Bacon and Don Kemp.
Interment was at the IOOF Cemetery, Goldendale, Knosher Funeral Home, directors.
