Darrell P. Jacobs, 60, Wichita, formerly of Hays, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at the Robert J. Dole Department of Veterans Affairs Medical and Regional Office Center, Wichita. He was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Hays to Andrew and Mary (Jacobs) Jacobs.

He was a U.S. Marines veteran.

He married Rise Bell on June 17, 1972, in Lebanon. He was a roughneck in the oil fields for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle B. Jacobs, Greenwood Village, Colo., and Heather N. Hendrickson, Chicago; a brother, Delmas Jacobs, Hays, three sisters, Evelyn Bieker, Hays, Shirley Millikin, Neosho, Mo., and Norene Jacobs, Des Moines, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin, and a sister, Shelbia Huffhines.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial with military honors by Hays American Legion in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.
