Services to be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 | 1: pm
at Second Christian Church with Rev. Paul Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. A wake service will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Second Christian Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.

six daughters, Peggy E. (Dennis) Clayton, Houston, TX, Arthene E. Allen-Mackey, Atchison, KS, Sherry D. (Keith) Handy Houston, TX, Donis K. Allen, Atchison, KS, Toi A. Allen, Atchison, KS, Billy S. Allen, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Florence Harper, Atchison, KS, Naomi Harris, Kansas City, MO, an aunt, Edith Parker, Kansas City, MO, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Deneen Allen, four sisters, Dorothy Whitely, Ruthanna Williams-Bey, Mary "Wealthy" Fobbs, Hortense Wilkerson, three brothers, Daniel Jackson, Sr., Eugene Jackson and Warren "Judy" Jackson two grandchildren Alan Busey, Jr., Daimy Flores a greatgrandchild, Destiny Flores.
Carolyn was born in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of Daniel and Agnes Miller Jackson. She attended Lincoln School and Atchison High School.
She and Arthur Wayne Allen were united in marriage in August 1954 in Atchison, Kansas. Mr. Allen preceded her in death in 1959.
Carolyn moved to Houston, Texas for a time and owned and operated the G. R. Gas Station until returning to Atchison, Kansas where she was employed with Rockwell International Corporation until her retirement. Additionally she used her culinary talents for private catering and meal preparations in Atchison homes, in most recent years the home of the Galen Pruett family.
She was a member of Second Christian Church and for many years was an avid supporter and promoter of the Juneteenth celebration. She enjoyed bingo games and playing cards and participating in lunch and activities at the Atchison Senior Center.
