Elbert Sam Jackson, a retired supervisor for the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department, died Wednesday at an Arlington hospital. He was 56.

Funeral will be at 1 pm today at Arlington Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be at 11 am Friday in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 pm today at the funeral home.

Mr. Jackson was born in Rockdale and was a graduate of Rockdale High School. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington.

He worked for the parks and recreation for 39 years before his retirement in the mid-1980's. Mr. Jackson was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors: Two daughters, KayLyn Jackson and Rhonda Alfieri, both of Euless; mother, Lillian Jackson of Rockdale and two grandsons.
