Carolyn Blackwell, 97, died March 7, 2012, at the Cameron Glen Nursing Home in Reston, VA where she had resided for the past 10 years Carolyn had Alzheimer's for 22 years. She was born in Bruton, Alabama on June 7, 1914 to Charles and Clara (Chastain) Jackson, but moved with her parents to Sandy Springs, GA at an early age. Carolyn married Bob Blackwell, Sr. in 1935 and devoted her life to her family. She was active in her church, St. John United Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA. Her husband, Bob, formed the Northside Youth organization (NYO) in 1951 and was head of the Red Devil football team for many years. Scores of youth fondly called Carolyn "Mrs. Coach." In addition to her husband, and parents, she is preceded in death by her 4 sisters.
