AMSTERDAM,OHIO -- Velma L. Anderson, 83, a six-year resident of Amsterdam, formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Trinity Medical Center, Steubenville, after an extended illness.
Born July 22, 1914, in Zihlman, Md., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Loretta Jack.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Anderson, in October 1976. Together they ran Ray's Grocery and Tavern in Frostburg from 1954 until 1976.
She also was preceded in death by one son, John, in 1990; a brother, Clarence Jack; and a sister, Lillian Martin.
Surviving are one daughter, Jan Morley and husband Bert, Amsterdam; one sister, Irene Allen, Cumberland, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home, Amsterdam, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg, on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
