John A. Johnson, age 91, of Rapid River, Michigan, died June 22, 2004 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

John Johnson was born February 1, 1913, in Stonington, the son of John and Anna (Green) Johnson who preceded him in death. He was raised in Stonington and attended the Central School in Stonington.

Following his years in school, John went to work for the W.P.A in Delta County. He worked for the W.P.A. for a number of years and on May 25, 1937, John married the former Irene Wicklund in Gladstone. Irene preceded John in death on October 6, 2001.

Throughout the years, John was self-employed as a farmer. He also did carpentry work and worked in Oregon in the cranberry bogs harvesting cranberries. While in Oregon, John also worked for a sawmill. John's hobbies included trapping, hunting and fishing, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, John and Anna, and his wife of 65 years, Irene, John was preceded in death by:
