Anita B. "Mum" Banister, 94, died at her Paisley home Monday, March 15, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
Mum was born Feb. 29, 1916 in Fresno, Calif. to Iver and Alice (Junger) Iverson.
She received her early education in Fresno before moving to Fort Rock with her family. She graduated from high school in Silver Lake in 1934.
She was married to Norman "Snooks" Banister in Lakeview Jan. 15, 1937.
There wasn't anything more important to Mum than her family. Her hobbies included knitting, cooking and her candy kitchen. She was very proud to display her board of ribbons that she had been awarded at the Lake County fairs. She was sure to attend all of Paisley's sporting events. She also attended all of the 4-H and FFA events for her children and grandchildren.
Mum was a longtime member of the Paisley Methodist Church.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law Banny and Linda Banister of Stayton; daughters and sons-in-law Norma Jean and Bob Carlon of Paisley and Candy Jo and Ron Manary of Medford; brother Shorty Iverson of Bend; sister Alice Hansen of Hermiston; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great- great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life Service was held Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Paisley Community Center with the Rev. Eric Sarensen officiating. The interment was private at the Paisley Cemetery.
Ousley Osterman Huffstutter Funeral Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
