Marlys J. Anderson, 70, of rural Buffalo, Ill., died on Jan. 16, 2005, at the Mayo Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., due to complications from ALS.
She was born Oct. 31, 1934, in Austin, Minn., to John and Lilly Iverson.
She married Elnathan S. Anderson in 1952.
She was a 1952 graduate of LeRoy High School, LeRoy.
She was a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church in Illiopolis, Ill., and a member and past treasurer of the United Methodist Women. She was a long-time member of the International Arabian Horse Association, having served as Secretary-Treasurer of Illinois IAHA for 13 years. She served as Region XI Director, Treasurer and Show Commissioner, as well as various other positions within the organization. She served on the U.S. Arabian Nationals Show Commission from 1996-2003 and was a board member of the Salem Children's Home from 2000-05, as well as a member of the board's Executive Committee.
Survivors include her husband, Elnathan; three sons: Nathan, St. Paul, Minn.; Timothy (Kim), Milbank, S.D.; and David (Elizabeth), Springfield, Ill.; one brother, Vernon Iverson (Darlo), LeRoy; seven grandchildren; nieces, a nephew and several cousins.
Service: 1 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2005, at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church in Illiopolis, Ill.
Interment: Memorial and burial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2005, at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn.

I was Marlys & Andy's flower girl...a special honor for a 5 year old. I always thought Marlys was so cool...she rode horses! Her warm personality & friendly smile...she was a special lady. |
