Paul "Trapper" Israel, 88, died at 7:31 PM Wednesday, July 30, 1997, in the Lafayette Home Hospital emergency room, after suffering a heart attack while in his garden. Born April 10, 1909, at Wartburg, TN, he had resided in Lafayette for more than 50 years. On Nov. 4, 1933, he married Doris "Agnes" Smith, at Kokomo; she survives. Mr. Israel worked 22 years for Ralston Purina and farmed. He retired in 1971.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Ruby (Mrs. Duncan) Green of Somerville, IN, and Freida Israel of Lafayette; one sister, Mrs. Ida Mae Eble of Harriman, TN; one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
