Leonard Isenhour
Birth: Mar. 23, 1758
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: 1815
Seneca
Ontario County
New York, USA

Leonard is listed as the probable 3rd male child and 4th child overall born to Johannes and Veronica Eisenhauer in "Eisenhower Lineage and Reference, 1691-1957," by Fannie B. Taylor-Richardson, and was assigned Head of Household reference number 509 in that publication. AKA: Lenert Eisenhauer.

A resident of York County, PA at the time of the 1800 Census, Leonard bought land in New York, sold land in Pennsylvania, moved his family, built a mill on Flint Creek, and became known as an early settler of the Town of Seneca, Ontario County, NY circa. 1805.

1st Wife: Maria Elizabeth Heinrich (Henry) d. before 14 July 1801.

2nd Wife: Annimiri "Mary" d. Aug. 1, 1831.

Children: Catherine (m. Abraham Burkholder), Eliza(beth) (m. Edward Rilands), Mary (m. Theophilus Alexander), Michael Isenhour (m. Marilla Knickerbocker), Margaret (m. George Cruthers), John Isenhour (m. Harriet Palmer), Jacob Isenhour (m. Mary Newman), Ann (m. William Collins), Susan (m. Samuel M. McCoy), William Isenhour (m. Jane Herrington), and Joseph Isenhour (m. Lydia Caylor). A twelfth child, Phillip, born in Pennsylvania, may have been deceased at the time of Leonard's death.

Michael is listed as being in Smith's Company, 71st NY Infantry during the War of 1812. Michael is believed to have died in Galena, JoDaviess Co., Ill. while visiting his son, William, cemetery unknown. Michael was last enumerated in the 1857 Minnesota Territorial Census at Eagle Creek, Scott County with son Leonard and his family. Family links may be accessed through his wife's memorial: Marilla (Knickerbocker) Isenhour (1792-1874).

Among the children's links below, only Joseph is a probable candidate for Leonard's Joseph. The others are the confirmed children of Leonard along with their confirmed spouses. It is hoped further research on Joseph provides validation to this best fit connection.

William Isenhour (1806-1889), born about 1806 in New York, served in Co. G of the 19th Wisconsin Infantry, died about 1889, and is interred in Green Ridge Cemetery, Kenosha, WI, is the son of Leonard and his second wife Mary.

William's service record was incorrectly assigned to #569 William, son of Michael and Marilla Isenhour in "Eisenhower Lineage and Reference, 1691-1957"

#569 William, son of Michael and Marilla Isenhour, served in Co. C of the 140th Illinois Infantry.
