Mrs. Ruth Andersen, age 91 of Big Stone City passed away June 18, 2010 at St. William's Care Center in Milbank.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 24th at 10:30 a.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City.
Ruth was born November 12, 1918, in Clear Lake, IA. She was the daughter of John and S. Jane (Graham) Isaacson. She attended school in Rock Falls, IA and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1936. She attended Iowa State College, Ames, IA. Ruth was united in marriage on March 28, 1938, with Louis Wegener. They lived in Rock Falls for several years where they raised two boys: William and Thomas. Ruth later married Fred Andersen in 1967. After living in several locations in Minnesota, they moved to Big Stone City, SD (Chautauqua Park) in 1973. Fred passed away in 1983.
Ruth was active in Chautauqua Park Association throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's before retiring to St. William's CareCenter in Milbank. She was instrumental in documenting the historical facts of Chautauqua Park and the establishment of markers denoting the original facilitates. She volunteered her time at the Ortonville Library, Museum, and assisted families with financial planning.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, outstanding homemaker and will be missed by family and friends.
Ruth is survived by two sons: William Wegener of Dunlap, TN; Thomas and wife Cynthia Wegener of San Antonio, TX;and four grandsons: William Wegener, Jr. of Dayton, OH; Allen Wegener, Louis Wegener, and Fredrick Wegener, all of Arlington, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
