MAN FOR WHOM IOWA TOWN WAS NAMED IS CLAIMED AT BASIN
Funeral services were held here today for David Sidney Irwin, 89, for whom the town of Irwin, Iowa, is named. Irwin died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. William Riedman after an extended illness. He was born at Johnstown. Pennsylvania Dec 6, 1849 and moved when a young boy to Iowa. He studied law at the University of Iowa and then located in Shelby county where he surveyed land. Irwin came to Basin In 1920 and made his home with a son, the late Oliver Irwin. He is survived by his widow, four daughters and two sons.
